This policy explains how either party may cancel an Engagement with Global Data Strategy, the notice required, and what happens when work stops. Clear notice protects both sides — it lets us close out work properly and lets you plan with certainty.

§ 01

Overview

This Cancellation Policy sets out how Engagements with Global Data Strategy may be cancelled or paused. It applies to project work and to recurring retainer arrangements. Where a proposal or written agreement specifies different cancellation terms, those terms take precedence over this general policy.

§ 02

Cancellation by you

You may cancel an Engagement at any time by giving written notice using the details at the end of this policy. The effect of cancellation depends on the type of Engagement and the stage of work reached, as described below. You remain responsible for fees for work performed and for non-cancellable commitments made on your behalf up to the effective date of cancellation.

§ 03

Notice periods

For recurring retainer Engagements, we ask for written notice before the start of the next service period, unless a longer notice period is agreed in your proposal. Notice received during a service period takes effect at the end of that period, and fees for the current period remain payable.

For project Engagements, notice takes effect on receipt, and fees are calculated based on the proportion of work completed and any commitments already made.

§ 04

One-off and ongoing engagements

A one-off project is treated as a defined piece of work with a clear endpoint. If you cancel before completion, we will provide the work completed to date and invoice for the proportion of the project delivered, together with any non-recoverable third-party costs.

An ongoing engagement, such as a monthly retainer, continues until cancelled. Cancelling an ongoing engagement ends future service periods; it does not retroactively cancel periods already begun or completed.

§ 05

Pausing an engagement

In some cases you may prefer to pause rather than cancel an Engagement — for example, while awaiting a budget decision or internal change. Where we can accommodate a pause, we will agree its length and the terms for resuming. Reserved capacity may be released during a pause, and resuming may be subject to availability and current rates.

§ 06

Cancellation by us

We may cancel or suspend an Engagement on written notice where:

  • Fees remain unpaid after reasonable notice;
  • Necessary information, access, or approvals are not provided and work cannot reasonably continue;
  • Continuing would require us to act unlawfully or contrary to professional standards;
  • There is a material breach of the agreed terms that is not remedied within a reasonable period.

Where we cancel for reasons other than your breach, we will deal with any fees already paid fairly and in line with our Refund Policy.

§ 07

Effect of cancellation

On cancellation, we will stop work as soon as practicable and provide any completed deliverables for which payment has been made. Outstanding invoices for work performed remain payable. Obligations that are intended to survive — including confidentiality and intellectual property — continue to apply after cancellation.

§ 08

Rescheduling

If a scheduled session, workshop, or milestone needs to be moved, we ask for as much notice as possible so we can re-allocate time. We will always try to accommodate reasonable rescheduling requests, subject to availability.

§ 09

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision. The policy in force when an Engagement begins applies to that Engagement unless both parties agree otherwise in writing.
